The Flight Explorer Desktop Interface is a client side interface that allows Flight Explorer customers and partners to more tightly integrate their applications and systems with Flight Explorer providing an additional level of interaction and collaboration.

The interface allows the seamless integration of third party applications with the FE client application using standard Windows inter-process messaging or IP sockets. Flight planning system vendors can provide seamless GUI interaction for customers as well as obtain real-time ETA data from FE to better calculate fuel on-board and other flight planning status properties. Customers can integrate data from flight planning systems, customer owned applications, or back end databases to automate the setting of My Fleet on FE and always have the FE screen automatically in-sync with dispatcher workload. To avoid incorrect data calculations, the Desktop Interface will not run while an FE Playback file is active.

In addition, planned routes from a third party system can be sent to FE for evaluation against current weather, traffic, delays and other potential schedule impacts to facilitate proactive re-routing decisions. After evaluation, routes can be sent from FE back to the third party system for filing or to update an in-house system.
