Record Flight Explorer aircraft and weather data and play it back at a later time using Record / Playback. (Only available to authorized Flight Explorer accounts. Contact your Flight Explorer representative for pricing and information.)

Data is recorded in 24 hour blocks for the entire Flight Explorer coverage area regardless of selected view or other system settings. During playback, most Flight Explorer features are active just as with a live session. However, to avoid incorrect data calculations, the Desktop Interface will not run while an FE Playback file is active. Every time Flight Explorer is restarted a new file is started. When more than one file is created in one day, a letter suffix is added to the file name for distinction.

Up to three weather products can be selected for recording on Tools -> Options -> Weather. NavTeq Maps can also be recorded (Only available to authorized Flight Explorer accounts).

ClosedStart Recording

  1. Log on to Flight Explorer server.
  2. Select any weather products to record by going to the Weather options box (Tools -> Options -> Weather). To record a weather product, set for Always load and then turn on the corresponding Record check box.
  3. Select Start recording from the File menu and enter a file name. The file extension will default to .FVR. After selecting a file name, recording starts. The record state is indicated in the status bar as Running - recording.

ClosedStop Recording

  1. Select Stop recording from the File menu. Recording is immediately stopped.

Notes

  • Weather data is recorded in a sub-directory with the same name as the .fvr file you selected. If you need to transfer the recorded data to a new location, you must transfer the .fvr file as well as the sub-directory in order for the weather data to playback properly.
  • When playback looping is enabled and the flight list is displayed when playback "loops" back to the beginning of the file, the flight list will be cleared and rebuilt which may take a few seconds.
  • When in playback mode, all times displayed throughout Flight Explorer correspond to the data being played back, not current time.
