You can use the Lookup / Go To window to find information about a particular identifier and then use Go To to go to that geographical spot on the map.

  1. In the Item type area, in the Lookup/Go To window, select the type of item you want to use to look up.
  2. Select either Item ID or Item name.
Item name text search can only be done for the Airport, Airline and Aircraft type item types.

  3. Enter the identifier or text that corresponds with the search type selected in Step 2.

    • Item ID - Enter a specific item ID.
    • Item name - This is a reverse lookup feature which gives you the ability to enter the text associated with an item instead of a specific item ID. For example, "PHL" is the airport ID for "Philadelphia". By entering "phila" in the Item name box, a selection list appears with all airports in which "phila" is included in the name. This text can appear anywhere in the item name. Item name text search makes use of a wildcard feature that allows you to enter any portion or subset of the whole name into the Item name box and Look up will provide a list of identifiers that include the search criteria entered. Select the desired airport and Look up will return the detailed information associated with the selected airport.
  4. Do one of the following:

    • Click Look up.
Details appear in the Results area.

Note  If you used Item Name, a Selection List may appear where you can choose the item you are looking for. A list of identifier names and identifier types that meet the search criteria appear in the list. The list contains a maximum of 500 items. You should limit your search criteria if your search reaches or exceeds the maximum.

Note  If you used Airport ID, the Airport Summary button appears. Click Airport Summary to go the Airport Summary window.

    • Click Go to.
Flight Explorer navigates to the geographical location of the selected identifier. When the overlay is turned on for the selected identifier a target symbol surrounds the identifier. When off, the target symbol surrounds the geographical location where the identifier is suppose to appear. The target symbol appears for approximately 10 seconds. Go to can be performed on all identifiers except for Airline and Aircraft type.
