GDT File Details

The GDT file contains the following information about the image:

  • Brightness and contrast adjustments
  • Bounding latitude and longitude: The latitude and longitude points for the top left and the bottom right corners of an image.
  • File names of images to display
  • Zoom level at which to display an image.

Projection Quality

Flight Explorer supports four quality levels with which to display background images. You can customize this quality level to suit your preference of screen draw speed versus image quality. A lower quality display setting will draw images on the screen faster when zooming and panning your view, however the image will sacrifice fine detail. A higher quality display setting will draw somewhat slower on the screen, but will enhance the image to produce finer details.

  • Low (fastest)
  • Good (best speed / quality tradeoff)
  • Better
  • Best (slowest)

Note  Speed and quality levels are largely dependant on the original image quality, image and compression types, and computer hardware that is running Flight Explorer. Anomalies and performance degradation may be present due to these factors.

Draw Image Area

The Draw Image Area feature shows a bounding box (using the selected color) of the image area when zoomed out beyond the image display level. Click the Draw Image Area check box, to activate the Draw Image area.
