Creating Drawing Objects
Creating the drawing objects that appear on the map can be done with more than one method. In this section, you will learn how to create the drawing objects by using the tools on the either the ribbon or tool bar.
To create the drawing objects
- In the Cursors area in the Home tab, click one of the drawing object tools;
The cursor changes to cross hairs and a pencil when you move over the map. - Click on the map and draw the object on the map where you want it to go while holding the mouse done.
For Circle and Rectangles
- Click and hold anywhere on the map. Drag and release to select the offset. (Hold the Shift key while dragging to keep a constant mileage, or the Control key for constant shape).
- Release the mouse.
For Polygons
- Click and release, anywhere on the map to begin the shape.
- Move the cursor to the next point of the polygon can click once.
- Move the cursor to the next point and click again.
- Repeat until you are satisfied with the shape.
- Click the Spacebar to finish creating the shape or ESC to cancel.
- The Create drawing object window appears.
- In the Create drawing object window, enter a name for the object. You can give the object a unique name you will remember for later use.
