Understanding the Display Area

The main viewing area of the Flight Explorer screen is called the Display Area and contains the current view map, aircraft, overlays, and more. Described below is the user interface to manipulate the Display Area.

Zoom Level

The zoom buttons include predefined magnitude levels for efficient zooming. You can use your mouse scroll wheel to move the display window up or down, as well as zoom in and out by holding the SHIFT key while scrolling. The Zoom Back and Zoom Forward buttons work similar to a web browser, by allowing you go back to a previous zoom level and then work forward again. The default zoom level is full world when there are no aircraft specified in a filter. For more information, see Zoom and Scroll in the How do I section.

Auto Selection Circle

As the mouse is moved across the display area an auto-selection circle appears when passing over a plane. The circle appears on the aircraft closest to the mouse pointer. Aircraft that appear to be nearly on top of each other can be selected by making small mouse movements. This feature can be activated in General Options.
