To open the Airports window

  1. On the Main toolbar, click View Settings.

    The User Defined View Settings window appears.
  2. In the User Defined View Settings window, click Airports.
    The Airports window Closedappears.

Item

Description

Show Airport Overlay

Indicates whether a you want the Airport overlay to appear on the map.

 

Detail Options

Detail options that indicate how the airports will appear on the map.

Pacing

Airports the FAA determines as carrying the largest traffic load. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the airport that appears on the map.

Major

Largest airports categorized by passenger embarkation. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the airport that appears on the map.

Other

All other airports. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the airport that appears on the map.

Text Labels

Airport labels. Click the arrow on the Airport Overlay icon, and then click Show Text Labels, to turn the overlay on.

Label Type

Select from different IDs for airport labels.

  • FAA/ICAO
  • ICAO
  • IATA

Runway Filter

Indicate whether you will like to filter the runway. You can enter a value for length in feet for the runway. Flight Explorer will show only airports with runways of that length.

 

Show runways

Indicates whether you want the runways to appear on the map. Check to indicate that you want to see the runways on the map. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the runway that appears on the map. By default an X appears in the color box and the default color is gray for all runways.

Note  If Flight Explorer is not receiving the FAA runway data, you can use this to change the colors. An airport can still have a runway at an airport that does not receive the FAA data. That runway color can change here. If
Flight Explorer is receiving the FAA runway data, you will want to use the Airports / Rings Zoom window to change the color of the runway.

Show runway labels

Indicates whether you wan the runway labels to appear on the map. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the runway that appears on the map.

Airport Selection List

 

Area where you can select airports you want to see in the overlay.

Show selected Airports

Indicate whether you want the airport in the list to appear on the map. Click the color box next to the check box if you want to change the color of the airport that appears on the map.

Airport List

Box where the airports you add will appear.

Filter Group (unlabeled area)

Displays what is defined in Filter Groups assigned to overlay in User Defined View settings. Up to 5 groups supported.
