Understanding the Status Bar

The status bar provides useful information about system states and conditions and is usually located at the bottom of the screen.

Description

Progress Indicator

Shows the current state and the percentage of initialization completion, of the Flight Explorer software. During start-up the state will proceed from “Initializing tracks” to “Initializing flight data”. After start-up, and while Flight Explorer is running, the state will be “Running”. When in record mode, the state will be shown as “Running – recording”. When Flight Explorer becomes disconnected from the server, the state will change to “Closed.”

View

Displays the currently selected User Defined View name.

Workspace

Displays the currently selected Workspace name.

Weather

Displays the current state of the weather subsystem. When no weather products are displayed or selected, nothing will be displayed and the text will be grayed out. When weather products are up-to-date, Current will be shown and when retrieving a weather update, Retrieving... will be shown. If there is a problem retrieving a weather product, Error-#### will be displayed (where #### is the error code needed to report to Flight Explorer Support). For more information, see Weather Error Codes.

The on-screen weather legend changes color to indicate that the weather product update is late. When the update misses one update period (update period x 130%) the legend is shaded yellow or warning. When the update misses two updates (update period x 220%) the legend is shaded red or critical.

For QICP customers, a lock icon will appear on the Status Bar when an account has been enabled for QICP weather delivery and HTTPS is being used.. See Weather Products -> Delivery Options for more information.

Plane Count

This area is divided into two sections, Active and PreDep. Active is the total number of planes that meet current filter settings (334) and the total number of planes in the system (5,871), viewed as Active: 334/5871. PreDep (pre-departure) is the total number of planned and scheduled flights that meet current filter settings (212) and the total number of planned and scheduled flights in the system (834), viewed as PreDep: 212/834. When the plane overlay is turned off, the leading number of both sections, is set to zero to indicate that no planes are selected or the overlay is turned off.

Current

Current time shown in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or local time in the hh:mm:ss (hour hour:minute minute:second second) format (see General Options).

Last Update

This is the time of the last update received from the Flight Explorer server shown in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or local time in the hh:mm:ss (hour hour:minute minute:second second) format (see General Options). When there are no updates received from the FE server for more than 150 seconds and less then 300 seconds the status indicator is shaded yellowClosed and when there are no updates for more than 300 seconds the status indicator is shaded redClosed. Reconnection is attempted 10 times and if no connection is successful a message is displayed informing you that the connection has been lost and could not be reestablished.
